you have to do the following steps to activate central search:

1. To display the central search (All Searches Launcher) in the
header area of the navigation frame, you need to make the
necessary configuration settings in the UI component
CRM_WORKAREAHDR. As a prerequisite, activate the component
WORKAREA_HEADER for your selected layout profile in Customizing
for Customer Relationship Management, by choosing Business Roles
Define Navigation Frame .
2. You configure the header area of your business role in the UI
component CRM_WORKAREAHDR and the view WorkAreaHeader, in
the UI Configuration Tool. On the Configuration tab page, choose
your role configuration key. Choose More Attributes to display the
attributes UI_COMPONENT_1, UI_COMPONENT_2, and
UI_COMPONENT_3 of the three sections in the header area.
3. To display the central search at the right-hand side of the header
area, enter the following value:
UI_COMPONENT_3:Window=CRM_ALLSEARCHES.CRM_ALLSEARCHES/
LauncherWindow;horizontalAlignment=right;End of the code.
4. For every business object that is to be supported by the central
search, make the necessary settings in Customizing for Customer
Relationship Management, by choosing UI Framework Technical Role
Definition Define Central Search .
5. If you want to make business objects invisible at business role
level in the central search, make the necessary settings in
Customizing for Customer Relationship Management, by choosing
Business Roles Define Business Role .
