Water Your Plans For the Future?
As a functioning individual, there are countless methods in which you can utilize your
strengths, abilities, and passions so as to make a difference in virtually anything you set your
mind to. It couldnt be put into words in a superior way, Do more than belong: participate. Do
more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice. Do more than be fair: be kind. Do more
than forgive: forget. Do more than dream: work (William Arthur Ward). With concepts such as
these, we are being coaxed to dive headfirst into the unknown. We are being pushed to take our
potential past the point of comfort in an effort to improve the future and lives of others. For, your
time on Earth can be filled with endless possibilities. There are too many aspects in society that
need to be ameliorated or noticed for a capacitive person to ignore them completely. What is
more, the world has been faced with numerous widespread issues over time, one of them now
being the threat of privatized water supplies. However, through solicitous actions, contributory
efforts, and communication, people have the potential to create a propitious plan in which all
parties will benefit in some way at an international level.
Indisputably, humans must consume water for survival. A startling but concrete statistic
exists: eighty-five percent of this vital resource is expended by an estimated twelve percent of all
people, these individuals not residing in a third-world country (Water and Development).
Currently, our world is populated by approximately seven billion people, along with the
multitudinous plants, animals, and other forms of life that call this planet home. Nearly 1.4

million children lose their lives annually due to substandard sanitation or absence of drinkable
water, and millions more pass away as a consequence of similar reasons (Water and
Development). Be that as it may, the majority or at least a portion of these unnecessary
casualties could be evaded by simple actions of conservation and care. For, many have expatiated
on the essentiality of differentiation when it comes to the usage of water. Water is a fragile
material, and due to the growing demand for it, we must be able to draw the line between
necessity and luxury. People have also debated on the categorization of water: whether it is a
natural right or a product to be marketed. However, the United Nations recently came to a
consensus that, Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and wellbeing of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and
necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of circumstance beyond his
control (Water Privatization). It is the unarticulated duty of the common people to uphold the
proclamations of our rights by ensuring that fellow persons are faced with the same fundamental
standards, no matter their class or race. To take action, one can become aware of the
circumstances in which many are forced to live by, as well as educate others on the urgency of
their situations. For, the more people that know of the issues, the more prospective auxiliaries
there are. In addition, masses of individuals in the affected areas have taken it upon themselves
to call or take the time to discuss with their governmental representatives about the advantages
and disadvantages of water privatization. Although there might not be a lot that these
spokespeople can do, the presentation of various viewpoints could quite possibly cause the
leaders and companies to make a vital decision. Also, as stated earlier, you can become cognizant
of your consumption of water. With regards to this, it is important for the public to distinguish
when it is appropriate to use large sums of water. This is where concept of necessity versus

luxury comes into play. While a prodigious company may be using gallons of this liquid for
extravagance, there are millions of people spanning the globe who may not be obtaining the
amounts of water imperative for their survival. Overall, some of the best things that one can do if
they are interested in helping this situation are to research, inform others, and be watchful and
aware of water usage.
For humans, options truly are endless. We determine the course of our own future, and
must take full responsibility for all of the occurrences that have taken place so far, as well as the
events that are to take place in the future. As an individual, there seems to be only so much you
can do to help solve or better some of the snowballing, drastic problems that are currently
transpiring worldwide. This may be as it appears, but in actuality, there are an unlimited quantity
of alternatives to be completed, as I mentioned earlier. Even the smallest steps carry you closer to
your destination. For, everyone is born with a purpose, and whether they pursue that role could
determine the difference between a world of conflict and a world of rapport.
