Color Conversion tools Between Digital

Color System (RGB) and Standard System
for Color Coating of Building (NCS)

ABSTRACT
Many digital tools are used on the tasks relating to colors in architecture such as 3D architectural rendering.
However, the notation of color model in digital system is different from the notation of color model in standard
system for color coating of building. From these facts arose an initial research question: is it necessary to
convert the same color as desired between these two color models? If so, are there any tools for color
conversion? How do they work? Is the conversion result accurate or distorted? How much distortion does it
take? What is the possibility of applying these tools in practical work? These are the questions fundamental
to this study. With a renovation project as a case study, the research reveals that some web applications based
on the mathematical principles are one of the tools for color conversion. The experimental results from using
all web applications are acceptable, and thus can be applied to the practical work. Another nding is that all
these web applications can be used benecially for other work.
