TWIN TRIODE ‘The 12AU7-A is a miniature medium-mu twin triode intended for service in radio and television receivers or in audio amplifiers. The tube is suitable for use in a variety of stages, such as general-purpose amplifier, phase inverter, oscillator, or multivibrator. ‘The electrical characteristics of the 12AU7-A and 12AU7 are essentially equivalent. As compared to the 12AU7, the 12AU7-A exhibits a lower micro- phonic output. Except for heater ratings, the 7AU7 is identical to the 12AU7-A. In addition, the 7AU7 incorporates a controlled heater warm-up characteristic and is specially suited for use in television receivers that employ 600-milliampere, series-connected heaters, GENERAL ELECTRICAL T2AU7-A Cathode—Coated Unipotential 12AU7 Series Parallel Heater Voltage, AC or DC 70 35 126 63 Volts Heater Current 03 06 0.15 03 Amperes Heater Warm-up Time* Seconds Direct Interelectrode Capacitances Grid to Plate, Each Section 15 15 unt laput, Each Section 13 1.6 ut Output, Section 1 20 0.4 wut Output, Section 2 20 0:32 wuf MECHANICAL ‘Mounting Position—Any Envelope—T-6%, Glass Base—9-1, Small Button 9-Pin MAXIMUM RATINGS DESIGN-CENTER VALUES UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, EACH SECTION Vertical Class A: Deflection Amplifier Amplifiert DC Plate Voltage 300 300 Peak Positive Pulse Plate Voltage... 1200§ Peak Negative Grid Voltage 250 Plate Dissipation 275 275A, DC Cathode Current 20 20 Peak Cathode Current. 60 Milliampere Heater-Cathode Voltage Heater Positive with Respect to Cathode DC Component. 100 100 Volts Total DC and Peak 200 200 Volts Heater Negative with Respect to Cathode Total DC and Peak 200 200 Volts 0.25 ‘Megohms With Cathode Bias 1.0 22 Megohms GENERAL @® ELECTRIC Separedes 12AU7-A—12AU7 —7AU7 12AU7-A 12AU7 7AU7 ET-T880A Page 1 26 DESCRIPTION AND RATING ———— TERMINAL CONNECTIONS 1—Plate (Section 2) 2—Grid (Section 2) $—Plate (Section 1) 7—Grid (Section 1) 8—Cathode (Section 1) 9—Heater Center-Tap PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS RETMA 6-2 12AU7-A 12AU7 7AU7 ET-T880A, Page 2 238 MAXIMUM RATINGS (Cont'd) DESIGN-CENTER VALUES UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, EACH SECTION Vertical- Oscillator Servicet Serviced DC Plate Voltage 300 300. The duty cycle of the voltage pulse must not exceed 15 percent of one scanning cycle. § Valve given is to be considered as an Absolute Maximum Rating. In this case, the combined effect of supply voltage variation, manufacturing variation including components in the equipment, and adjustment of equipment controls should not cause the rated value to be exceeded. Aln stages operating with grid-lead bias, an adequate cathode-bias resistor or other suitable means is required to pro- tect the tube in the absence of excitation. 12AU7-A 12AU7 7AU7 ET-T880A, Page 3 Sse CLASS A RESISTANCE-COUPLED AMPLIFIER _ EACH SECTION oy [EoD = GO Volts koe = TBO vol taEb hes luca. wc [bain] to | te Ionia] Eo | fk [ain] Fo fo.10f0. 10] 3809] 10 | 30 | 3600] 11 [ 20] 2000] 12 | 30 © or 2alo. 10] s000| a1 | 48 | 4700] 42 | 27 | aco] 22 | aa esig Zagt ane o.24}0. 10] 9400] 11 | 13 | a700] a1 | 25 | B70] 12 | 38 o%53]0,10|21000| 11 | 37 |ao00] 22 | 32 | 12000] 32 | 28 Rk Jo.sifo-sifo.0]is000| 11 | 15 18000] 12] 29 |seo0of 22; o] L £ 1 120 fo. 10] 2aco9| 11 | 19 [25000] 42 | 37 | 23000] 32 | se fb 9-24 OPH Ta oO PIT DLO [| B®! voce: coupting eapscitors tC) should be 9.51 o {uj} o |i} alo |i) Selected tol give desired trequeney 0.81 0 fu] is] 0 | 45] 2] 0 | 16] 38 fesponse. fk should be adequately zolm{o |ulol o || 35] 0 |i] & tyepnssed. 1. £0 is maximum RUS voltage output for five percent (541 total harmonic distortion. 2.
