Initial Configuration
1. Configure the physical topology as shown in the diagram.
2. Configure devices with the appropriate hostnames, IP addresses, subnet masks, and default
gateways. Configure R1s physical interface with the 172.16.10.254 IP address.
Trunking & EhterChannel Configuration Part I (20 points)
1. Configure the link between SW1 and SW2 as a dot1q trunk.
a. Disable DTP
2. Configure the link between SW2 and SW3 as a dot1q trunk
3. Configure an EtherChannel for the links between SW1 and SW3 using the Cisco proprietary
EhterChannel protocol. SW1 should actively negotiate the EtherChannel. SW3 should NOT
actively negotiate an EtherChannel.
4. Configure the EtherChannel between SW1 and SW3 as a dot1q trunk.

VTP&VLANs (20 points)

Challenge Lab 2

1. Set the VTP mode on all switches to transparent mode.

2. Create VLANs 10,20,30, & 40 on all switches.
3. Using private VLANs configure the network such that PC1 and PC2 are not able to directly
communicate with each other but are able to communicate with their default gateway.
a. Use VLAN 10 as the primary VLAN
b. Use VLAN 101 as the secondary VLAN
Host Port Configuration (20 points)
1.
2.
3.
4.

Configure f0/3 on SW2 as an access port.

Associate f0/3 on SW2 with VLAN 20.
Configure f0/3 on SW2 to transition to the spanning tree forwarding state immediately.
Configure f0/3 on SW2 such that it goes into the err-disable state if it receives a BPDU.

Spanning Tree Protocol (30 points)

1. Configure MST per the following requirements:
a. Revision: 1
b. Name: ITM443
c. Instance 1: VLANs 10, 20, & 101
d. Instance 2 : VLANs 30 & 40
e. SW1 should be the root bridge for instance 1
f. SW1 should be the backup root bridge for instance 2
g. SW3 should be the root bridge for instance 2
h. SW3 should be the backup root bridge for instance 1
i. Prevent SW2 from ever becoming root. If a superior BPDU is received on the root
bridges designated port connected to SW2 it should go into the root inconsistent state.
Loop Prevention (10 points)
1. Enable a loop prevention feature that will monitor the physical configuration of the cable and
detect when a unidirectional link exists on the link between SW1 and SW2
Verify your configurations and have Instructor check off your work.
