1908 Thurgood was born on July 2, 1908, in Baltimore, Maryland

1926- Attended Lincoln University a historically black college in


Pennsylvania.
1934- Began working for the Baltimore Branch of National Association
for the advancement of colored people. Marshalls first case was
Murray vs. Pearson in which he was denied to be able to attend
Maryland Law School.
1936- Marshall moved to New York City to work full time for the
NAACP counsel. First case was Chambers vs. Florida in which he had
defended four African Americans who had been accused of murder by
contaminated confessions by the police.
1954- Court ruled in favor of Brown saying the segregated schooling
violated the 14th amendment and meant all schools were allowed to
desegregate. This case made him the most prominent and lawyer in
America.

1961- John F. Kennedy made Marshall a judge for the U.S. Circuit
Court of Appeals. He issued more than 100 cases and none were
overturned.
1967- Was voted in as a Supreme Court justice, becoming the first
African American.
1993- Died in Maryland on January 24.
