Values Statement

I believe educators ought to promote and foster a learning environment that enriches
students minds using the students prior knowledge as the canvas to construct new
understanding where ethical principles are relevant for the learner and them. Furthermore,
educators must provide the students with the skills necessary to inquest their multiple learning
experiences within their lives, such that they will be capable of answering their own queries and
foster their processes of critical thinking.
As an educator, I will pursue construction of funds of knowledge among my students and
myself. I want my pupils to feel accepted and respected. I strive to motivate students through
activating their previous knowledge so they can understand and connect their in-and-out of
school mathematics knowledge to foster a successful classroom environment. The students
sense of discovery enhances not only their ability to perform in school but their willingness to
explore beyond the classroom context. I never assume that actual learning is taking place. For
this reason, I foster indirect instruction to reinforce learners ability to recapitulate and make
sense out of complex situations and concepts. I promote everyones participation in expressing
their ideas without fear of being judged fostering environments where the learners make
purposeful use of their errors. I am aware of the uniqueness of each students different learning
styles.
