Interview
‘Mrs. Natasha Berry-5" grade.
1. How do you define effeetive teaching and learning?
Me: I define effective teaching and learning as a two-way interaction. One cannot happen
without the other. Effective teaching consists of decision making, persistence, content
knowledge mastery, planning and a genuine love for children, Once effective teaching takes
place then learning automatically takes place.
Ms. Berry: Effective teaching and learning takes place when the teacher has a well-planned
lesson that addresses various learning styles, has rigor, and has students actively engaged in
the lesson being taught, Instruction should be done in whole group and small groups based on i
student’s/needs.
2. How do you know when it has occurred in your classroom?
Me: You know when effective teaching has oceurred based on the a comprehension, 1)

‘Ms, Berry: When you can see a growth in students reading levels, the willingness to
complete assignments and them staying on tak then teaching and learning hes occurred.
Also, students must be able to master content that has been delivered by the teacher with 80
percent or higher showing mastery.

|3. How do you measure effective teaching and learning?
Me: You measure effective teaching and learning using assessments, When you assess
the students, you are measuring how effective your teaching was and how much learning
occurred,
‘Ms, Berry: Leaming can be measured with teacher observations, project based leaning,
and informal and formal assessments that measure what has been taught.
So as you can see our answers are around the same ball park, I believe that Ms.
Berry's answers are more tailored (o experiences. My answers are more content-
based. So experience makes a big difference.
