Reread own writing when finished

When writing narratives, events are logically sequenced

When writing narratives, add details about people, setting, events, feelings and reactions
When writing non-fiction pieces about topics that we researched as a class, use relevant
vocabulary when writing facts
Consistently make illustrations of people, animals, and setting in a realistic way

Conventions
Identify and describe shapes.
Analyze, compare, create, and compose shapes.

Volume
Spell all kindergarten spelling words correctly in independent writing

Indicate that a word contains a long vowel by using a long vowel pattern in independent writing
Correctly include consonants, short vowels, digraphs, and consonant blends in words when
necessary
Use periods at the end of a fact in a non-fiction informational text or a letter
Identify punctuations when presented with them visually (period, exclamation point, question
mark)
Use capitals in the first letter of a sentence, the word I, and names and do not capitalize
letters anywhere else in the sentence
Leave appropriate spacing between words and sentences

Setence Fluency

Write sentences that always make sense because all of the words are present (ex: I went to store
vs. I went to the store)
