Find a currently-published, research-based journal article related to English Language Teaching (ELT) and
write a critical review based on the following headings:
Summary Write an executive summary of the article. Include the questions it addresses, the research
methodology employed and the significant findings.
Article position Discuss the articles position in relation to its theoretical framework. Critically discuss
the literature review.
Research methodology Critically discuss the methodological framework adopted. Are they
appropriate? What are the strengths and limitations? What are the other available options?
Findings and implications Critically evaluate the findings and their implications/ contributions towards
English language teaching and learning. Examine some aspects that the article may fail to address.
Future directions Discuss the ways in which this particular line of study or analysis should be
developed in the future.
References Use proper in-text citations and indicate references using a conventional referencing
system.
