Present a nutrition education class to a client group or develop educational materials targeted toward a client
group on a subject negotiated with your supervisor,
1. Obtain a list of education classes offered within the health center. Attend various classes (c.g. prenatal,
fitness, chronic disease). Select one and write a critique about the class. The critique should include the
following information: summary of the class; description of methods used to present the nutrition
information; strengths and weakness of the presentation and suggestions for improvement. This eritique
should be included in the notebook to be tumed into the Program Director.
2. Obtain a list of educational materials used within the health center. Obtain a copy of each material. (If
too many choose those most pertinent to nutrition, a minimum of 10) Select one and write a critique
about the material. This critique should be included in the notebook to be tumed into the Program
Director.
3. Observe the various client groups that come into the agency for services. Conduct a needs assessment to
determine the adequacy of materials currently used and to determine what types of additional education
classes/materials might benefit the agency. Discuss potential topics with the supervisor.
4, Select a client group for which to develop an education class/material. Identify the educational needs,
educational level, learning style, etc. of the group. Develop goals and objectives for the education
class/material.
{@5._ Develop a budget and identify resources needed for the educational classmaterials. Prepare a mock
budget if necessary. Estimate costs of materials and remember to consider miscellaneous expenses.
6. Implement and evaluate the class/material. Suggest changes for future classes/materials.
Evaluation:
1. Include all information and summaries in WIC notebook and turn in to DI Director one week after the
conclusion of the 3-week WIC rotation
2. The supervisor will evaluate your ability to perform a presentation using the Evaluation Form for
Presentations.
