Connections and Collaborations

Dr. Rand
28 April 2015

This semester was all about connections in UWRT 1102. All three
of my major projects made connections to each other in some way.
Personally, I found and made a lot of connections as well. I made
connections with college in general, with my ideas, and with my life. I
enjoyed making connections in my writing because it helps me write
more and write about what I want to write about.
The biggest connection I made this semester would be with
college. All three of my assignments related to college. My conflict
analysis was dealing with my conflict of choosing a college to go to and
then it lead to if I wanted to stay here at UNCC. My inquiry project was
finding happiness in college. It was directed towards unhappy college
students who are mostly unhappy but also helped people who found
themselves sad, either if it was for just a moment or day, or if they
have been for a whole semester. My multi-genre project was about
solutions to finding happiness in college. I found that writing about
college is so easy, of course some parts were hard, but I generally
enjoyed writing about it. I know I can use the information I found and
help other students with things like finding a school to go to, if

someone wants to transfer schools, or if someone is unhappy in

college.
I also made connections with my ideas. Again, all of my topics
and ideas related to each other. My central idea about college helped
wrap everything together. I used ideas and information from my
conflict analysis to put in my inquiry paper and my mulit-genre project.
I think it was writing my conflict analysis about college and myself
which lead to my idea about college happiness for my inquiry project.
The relations between the projects helped make them flow and it
helped give me an overall theme for the semester, the real college
experience.
Everything that I did this semester made connections to my life
and my future. All of the research and writing I did can be used
towards my future and also the future of others. I like being able to put
my opinions and my ideas, and essentially my life, into my papers and
projects. I like being able to make the connections I did. Everything
that I wrote was helpful for me. I know my life down the road can use
this information. Maybe one day I will find myself unhappy in a job, I
will use the strategy I used for my conflict analysis to see if I want to
stay in this job, and use all the information and research from my
inquiry project to help make myself happy and learn what I can do to
improve myself.

I liked everything I did this past year in writing, both in 1101 and
1102. But I found 1102 much more helpful for my life, rather then just
my writing in general and myself. Of course I have improved my
writing from last semester, but Ive improved the way I look at things
and the way I make decisions.
