Dear Parents and Gaurdians,

Hello. My name is Mr. Hansen. I will be student teaching in Mrs. Wagenschutz 3rd grade
class this semester. I look forward to spending the next 16 weeks with your children. This is my
final requirement before I complete my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a
focus in Mathematics from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. I am from the
area. I grew up in Harbor Springs and graduated from Harbor Springs High School. I love this
area and am passionate about the outdoors. While I was in school I was a member of Boy Scout
Troop 55, and received my Eagle Scout award. I requested a student teaching placement in the
area and am very pleased to have been assigned to Pellston Elementary.
Over the next 16 weeks I will be transitioning from observing Mrs. Wagenschutz to
eventually taking over teaching the class. I will work with Mrs. Wagenschutz to prepare
meaningful lessons that are aligned with the schools curriculum and the Michigan State
Standards. As I mentioned previously, my focus is mathematics, but I value every subject. Over
the course of this semester, my goal is to gain valuable experience in managing a classroom and
teaching students as well as instilling my passion for learning to all the students in the class.
I look forward to spending time with your children and am thankful for the oppurtunity to
