a. For twelve years, Roy has been an Air Traffic Controller at
Heathrow Airport.
b. He began his training — which was very tough — when he
was 17/ at 17, and studied with experienced controllers at
various airports.
c. It took him 3 % years to gain the basic Air Traffic
Controller’s licence — then he specialised in Aerodrome
Control.
d. He chose to learn to fly as well — so he understands the
pressures a pilot undergoes.
e. He works in a team of ten people — divided into Visual
Control and Approach Control.
f. Wherever he is working — he needs to take a break every
two hours — since he needs to relieve his concentration.
g. Ifhe feels ill, then another air traffic controller takes over
immediately.
h. He will retire at 60 — following the Civil Aviation Policy
for all the staff.
i. He says (that) (his) life is not full of dramas — his job is to
make sure they don’t happen.
