1. Puebla has two meanings in Spanish: it means people and it is the name of
a state in Mexico. Why is Batalla de Puebla an appropriate name in two ways?
It was the battle of the Mexican people and it is where the battle was held at.
2. Why do you think Chicanos (Mexican Americans) are more likely to celebrate
Cinco de Mayo than Mexicans in Mexico? I think they are more likely to
celebrate because it was the Americans were the ones to help them in their
time of need.
3. Why do you think most people mistake Cinco de Mayo for Mexican
Independence Day? Do you think that it is a result of confusion or ignorance,
or perhaps reveals a more greater issue in terms of stereotypes,
generalizations, and perceptions about different cultures and ways of life? I
think that its a result of confusion because Cinco de Mayo is so widely
celebrated hat you could assume that it was their independence day.
