Dear Parent or Guardian of John Smith,

My name is Sasha Sproge and the purpose of this communication is to inform you that I am
presently experiencing a few areas of concern with your child in Spanish. I would greatly
appreciate your cooperation in working with me in trying to take corrective measures in
resolving these issues. I know that together we can work to fix these concerns.
John is a very intelligent child and has lots of energy, but he seems to struggle with certain social
behaviors like excessive talking. I constantly have to pause my lessons because he is talking and
disturbing others while I am teaching. I have talked with John after class and let him know that
talking during a lesson hinders the learning of other students in the classroom. He seemed to
understand and promised to make an effort to refrain from talking while I am talking.
The policy in my classroom is that while I am teaching, students are to be listening. They are to
raise their hands if they wish to ask a question and to be respectful of others. John and I have
come up with a proactive solution that hopefully may alter Johns behavior in the classroom.
When he finds the urge to talk during my lessons, he has my permission to get a drink from the
fountain. The students who sit around him have also offered to help by reminding John to refrain
from talking until I have finished talking. I have accommodated John by offering some time after
my lessons for him to talk with his classmates through collaborative activities.
With your help in this situation, I know that we can help improve Johns behavior in the
classroom in order to maximize his potential. I am here to do anything I can in order for him to
succeed in my class. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns at 732-644-6516. I
am available to meet for a conference before or after school Monday-Friday. I appreciate your
cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,

Sasha Sproge
