Criteria/Evaluation

The students will begin the

lesson with completing
their daily warm up in the
warm up packet. While the
students are doing this I
will walk around to provide
assistance as well as asses
which area students need
most help. This daily warm
up will be reviewed in a
whole group setting. Once
the warm up is gone over
move into gallons, bring up
the gallon man for visual.
** There will be a separate
warm up for two students
who are on different
levels**

To begin this lesson have

the students recall the
image that they saw at the
end of the previous math
class. Then go over that
image as being the gallon
man. Explaining how his
parts are all liquid
measurements and how we
are all go to construct our
own paper gallon man.
Start with pints, explaining
there are so many pints
with a gallon. Have the
students construct their
own gallon man up to
quarts.

In closing have the

student measure out
each measurement.
Using rice let them
physically see how
much a quart is and
have them poor into
gallon container. Than
continuing the same
thing for the pints.
Allowing the students to
physically see all that
goes into the gallon.

SWBAT identify how many

pints are in a gallon as well as
physically measure out pints
with 75% accuracy.
The students will complete
the warm up and keep it in
their math binder. The student
will also start constructing
their own gallon man and
hold onto it until we continue
tomorrow.
