Subject: Elongating the Time Period to Submit a Course Change Request
Dear Mr. Nelson:
I am writing to complain about the course change request process that is implemented at
Panther Creek High School. The course change request process, that is enacted to allow a
student to change courses for reasons ranging from too rigorous to a simple distaste for a
course, has a short span of ten days to be implemented, in which there is insufficient time
for a student to face the reality of the class setting in which they are placed. This is made
evident by the first week of school acting as an administrative week to accommodate
students coming in and out of classrooms as a function of this ten day course change
request, as well as the admittance of new students to the school. This process that was
enacted to assist students does not provide them with the environment necessary to
evaluate their options and then handicaps them once the ten day period is exhausted.
To solve this problem I suggest that the school elongates the time period in which a
student can submit a course change request to 15 days. 15 days allows for the initial
administrative week of a class to be had and would assist in students being able to
evaluate the environment and class setting they are in, in order to see if a change needs to
be made, as well as to accommodate the student in his/her success at this institution. This
change would also eliminate an overly abundant amount of phone calls from concerned
parents, as well as the additional stress placed on the adolescents that attend this school.
With this change implemented it would allow for a less stressful environment for the
student and above all more opportunity for their success. Allowing for Panther Creek
High School, as a whole, to maintain its reputation as the great institution that it is.
Please take this mutually beneficial change into consideration.
Sincerely,
Ashley Ranaudo
Former Student
