Procedure:
Model for the students what they will be doing for the day while
they are at the carpet. Explain to the students that you have a
Bumblebee that lost some of its stripes, and that you are going
to figure out how many he has left.
First, the students will cut out their bumblebee and glue it to the
paper that has sentences at the end.
Second, the students will be given black construction paper and
they will have to glue on however many stripes they want on the
bee. They will also have to put some stripes underneath the bee
at the bottom of the paper.
Once the students finish this, they will have to fill in the blanks in
this sentence. ___________s bumblebee had _______ stripes.
_______ fell off. How many stripes does the bumblebee have left?
________ - ________ = ________
