ENGL 106
3 March 2015
Dear Reader,
I have written a review of Kurt Vonneguts 2 B R 0 2 B. This was a very enjoyable piece
to write. I feel I have many strengths within my work. Foremost, I spent a great deal of time
rereading and analyzing the very short story of 2 B R 0 2 B. I believe this in-depth analysis
allowed for me to attribute provoking and personal ideas about the meaning of the text. I
concentrated on relating my ideas to Vonneguts ability to write about a dismal future.
There were, however, difficulties in forming this analytical review. Mostly being to stay
within the confines of a review. It was a challenge to keep my analysis pointed towards a
critique of the story and not just a rant on what opinions I have about the text. Also, allowing
insight without blatantly developing the readers ideas for them was tricky to handle. I dealt with
these challenges by constantly reinforcing where my opinions fell in the overall theme of the
story: a dystopia.
I used the Diane Rehm source as a credible resource to discuss the importance dystopian
fiction literature has for personal development of morality. Though I do feel I could have
collected more sources on aspects of dystopian literature in order to support my claim that
Vonnegut has created a strong dystopian piece. Most of my insight here came from personal and
general knowledge of the literature.
As for growth in my literature, I reflected on a previous assignment, my literature
narrative. During this assignment I was given feedback that my work was not well organized. For
my book review here I had several peers read it in order to make sure it made sense and was a
smooth, complete piece.
A last note I will add before you, the reader, continues on the review is that 2 B R 0 2 B
was very inspirational to me. I hope you will see just how this small text brought about many

ideas of my own. I also hope this can encourage you to become inspired as well and cause you to
seek answers to questions you were not previously aware of.
Sincerely,
Caroline Harms
