Class will begin with short lecture on curved mirrors, ray diagrams, focal points and images. Students will be tasked to determine the focal length of a flat concave mirror. Also students will be asked to identify where these types of mirrors are used in daily life.

Begin class with short lecture on curved mirrors, ray diagrams, focal points and images. A handout with definitions and useful diagrams will be provided for the students as support material for the lecture. After lecture, activity with 5 stations: Station 1: Concave Mirror Ray Tracing Students will be tasked to determine the focal length of a flat concave mirror using blank paper, ruler and light box. Station 2: Convex Mirror Ray Tracing Students will be tasked to determine the focal length of a flat convex mirror using blank paper, ruler and light box. Station 3: Concave Mirror Image Properties Using a round concave mirror, students will be tasked to determine whether the image is magnified or diminished and inverted or not. Also students will be asked to identify where these types of mirrors are used in daily life Station 4: Convex Mirror Image Properties Using a round convex mirror, students will be tasked to determine whether the image is magnified or diminished and inverted or not. Also students will be asked to identify where these types of mirrors are used in daily life Station 5: Ray Tracing Using the given worksheets, students will use the principle rays in order to determine the location of the image produced by a concave and convex mirror. Students will be asked to identify whether the image is real or imaginary, inverted or not, and magnified or not.
