UNCC Test Review
The writing test that we took for the school in the computer lab was very interesting to
say the least. It contained a lot of weird questions that I wasnt accustomed to answering on a
standardized test. I also noticed that there were many different versions of the test because I
asked a friend what his test was like and he said that his was all writing. My test was all multiple
choice in the same format of questions. My questions focused on grammar asking me if I should
put commas and apostrophes in certain places in a sentence. I didnt like the test because I felt it
was unclear what was actually being measured.
The one aspect of the test that I did appreciate was that it did not count for or against my
grade in writing. We didnt know what we were being assessed on going into the test so there
was no way to prepare and study for it. The preliminary questions about the SAT and ACT
scores so I put down random information. It was unrealistic for them to ask us to remember our
scores for each section of the original test we took in high school. I can often barely remember
my last assignment let alone individual scores for a test I took years ago. Overall though the test
was not bad just unconventional.
