It is a pleasure to recommend Nicole Carson as she graduates this year from
Buckingham Charter Magnet High School. As a personal friend and Service Learning instructor, I have observed Nicoles growth and maturity develop over the past two years. In our Service Learning class, Nicole cheerfully volunteered within our community for forty hours. This project involved serving at the Opportunity House Homeless Shelter, assisting at the Mission Church with a variety of responsibilities, and supporting young teen single moms. In class, I found Nicole to be passionate, creative and an articulate speaker. She is bold in her communications and stands strong in her convictions amongst her peer group, regardless of the opposition. She proved to be an excellent student enthusiastically participating in class discussions, submitting her class work promptly, and staying on top of her homework even if she was absent from class. This responsible decision-making will pave the way as she works steadfastly to achieve her goals in life. Additionally, Nicole was a delight to have in my class because of her friendliness, courtesy, and grateful spirit. She is mature beyond her years. Not only was her academic performance outstanding, Nicole was faithful as a soccer team statistics collector and for four years she actively participated in the BCMHS Jazz Concert group. She maintained a part time work position, successfully
organizing her time and managing her various responsibilities well. Her dedication and determination will open many doors. Sincerely, Donna Nelson BCMHS Service Learning teacher
