The Positive Effects of Nature on the Human Mind
I began my thirty minutes of researching by reading multiple articles
just simply by googling my topic, the effects of nature on people and their
emotions, and simply reading the first few selections of topics that appeared
on the list. By reading a variety of articles formulated by all sorts of sources
such as federal organizations, activist groups, and scientists pursuing work in
the particular field, I gathered a general consensus of knowledge concerning
the topic and different ways of addressing the topic. The questions that
drove my research were fairly simple, and fairly general; such questions that
concerned me, was what other previous researchers have been interested in
this topic, and what type of research is there to prove a correlation in either
respect to the topic at hand. The article I have selected, presented by the
University of Rochester suggests evidence that suggests a positive
correlation between nature and the emotion of people that involve
themselves with nature regularly. Different audiences could be targeted by
the article such as nature activists, casual readers, and individuals in a field
that the article represents particular interest to them. Upon my previous

knowledge of the topic I have an opinion of the topic and I personally believe
nature and time spent in it has a positive influence on a persons emotions
and well-being. The text provides adequate evidence proving the fact that a
person spending time in nature does positively affect them. Multiple papers
and references towards experiments concerning this topic were presented
and all supported the accusation the article presented towards the audience.
This article is a good starting place for anyone beginning research on the
topic of nature and its effects on people and their emotions.
