NAEYC Statement of Commitment

As an individual who works with young children, I, Carmen Sanchez, commit myself to
furthering the values of early childhood education as they are reflected in the ideals and
principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct. To the best of my ability I will:
- Never harm children
- Ensure that programs for young children are based on current knowledge and
research of child development and early childhood education
- Respect and support families in their task of nurturing children
- Respect colleagues in early childhood care and education and support them in
maintaining the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
- Serve as an advocate for children, their families, and their teachers in
community and society
- Stay informed of and maintain high standards of professional conduct
- Engage in an ongoing process of self-reflection, realizing that personal
characteristics, biases, and beliefs have an impact on children and families
- Be open to new ideas and be willing to learn from the suggestions of others
- Continue to learn, grow, and contribute as a professional
- Honor the ideals and principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
Ethical Responsibilities to Children
I will respect each child and their familys cultures and tradition by displaying pictures of
their families if is permitted, I will respect my colleagues by maintaining a professional
conduct while talking to them or meeting with them. I will follow and maintain the
NAEYC code of ethical conduct by respecting each individual beliefs and input to the
program. I will continue to grow as a professional by continue my education and better
serve children and their families. To advocate for children and their families when
necessary always focusing in the wellbeing of our children.
Ethical Responsibilities to Families
I will conduct myself with professionalism and respect families; I will offer a safe and
clean environment for their children under my care. I will respect every familys culture
and traditions by asking to contribute into our curriculum with their ideas. I will
maintain professional conduct while keeping each familys paperwork and life style
confidential. I will maintain families updated of their children progress and set new
goals when necessary.
Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues

I will respect my co- workers and superiors by treating each individual with respect and
value their ideas and inputs. I will be open for new ideas and I will be willing to learn
from the suggestions of others.
Responsibilities to co-workers
I will value my co-workers ideas by input their ideas in our daily lesson plans, to
practice their ideas and review afterwards to find out how it when or if we have
to make accommodations or changes. Be open minded and willing to make
changes if necessary. I will respect my co-workers their culture and beliefs. I will
help them maintain the NAEYC code of ethical conduct and together make a
difference in a childs life.
Responsibilities to employees
I will respect each individuals position as employs; I will be available to them if
they need me. I will use their input into our programs for better serve children
and their families. I will show respect and conduct myself with professionalism
when discussing any ideas or concerns in our programs.
Ethical Responsibilities to Community and Society
I will serve as an advocate for children and their families when a need is present. I will
maintain myself informed of any community resources available for families and obtain
that information and deliver to families. I will maintain high standards of professional
conduct while obtaining information and deliver to families.
Individual
As an individual I will maintain a professional conduct at all times during my
carrier, I will continue my education to offer a quality early child hood education
to children and their families. I will continue my membership with the NAEYC and
honor their ideas and principles. I will provide a safe, clean, and fun environment
to children and their families.
Collective
I will honor and respect each persons ideas and contributions to our early
childhood programs. I will contribute with my ideas and any support needed to
collaborate with the early child hood programs.
