April 2, 2015 Dear Sir or Madam, itis with great pleasure that | am writing you, recommending Maura Palumbo for this year’s 4-H scholarship, | met Maura five years ago. My youngest daughter was joining the Paw Power 4-H group, and Maura was a member, She was in seventh grade. She was already a leader. She introduced herself to everyone, and then proceeded to demonstrate everything that was asked of her. She was helpful, articulate and not afraid of approaching anyone or their ani Maura was only in Paw Power for two more years, yet during that time, she held many leadership roles Including club president. After leaving Paw Power, Maura continued to be involved by being a ring steward at the fair, and coming to see her friends whenever possible. We saw her occasionally, and she was always cheerful and very willing to join in a conversation. | knew she had decided to focus on horse 4-H, but | didn’t know just how much she would be involved. Besides being in horse 4-H, Maura is also a second-year Metro 4-H Ambassador. In that role, she has really blossomed. | am honored to be her co-leader in that group. Since joining the ambassadors, Maura has spear-headed many ideas, including introducing Senior Night to the Washington County Fair. She single-handedly asked for and received not only a generous donation for medals, but lined up an. inspirational speaker for the event as well. Maura has excellent follow-through. | know when | ask something of her that it will be completed in a timely matter. Often she finishes the project before I have the chance to ask her how itis progressing. Since Maura’s “fair” is not during the actual County Fair, she was able to assist us all. On short notice, Maura was the announcer for the fashion revue. Then she was the announcer for the auction! She was a Herdsmanship judge, and she ran the horse informational booth. She was a ring steward for the dog show. If we needed someone, she was there—smiling, and happy to help. Outside of 4-H, Maura is also a leader. She is a member of Key Club and Tide Crew at Glencoe High School, ‘The youth of today are the future of tomorrow. Maura Palumbo is our future.
