Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact

Rationale/Reflection
INTASC Standard:
Standard #2: Learning Differences
The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and
diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning
environments that enable each learner to meet high standards.

Brief Description of Evidence:

As part of my EDUC 255 Multicultural Teaching course during the
spring semester of 2014, I worked individually to create a multicultural
book list. I had researched the Internet to get these books; some of
these books entailed stories about a child who is in a wheelchair but
can do the same things that any other child can do as well as stories
about children who have pen pals and find out that they do the same
things, and many other different multicultural books.

Analysis of What I Learned:

I learned how to research through quality resources to find
materials for my classroom. I created a shared network of resources
and shared with my peers. As well as gained a network of resources
from my peers.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on

the INTASC Standard:
My competence in this standard is proven by my ability to research
quality resources to use in my future classroom. I also learned that by
using these resources I could make my classroom a more diverse
setting for the children and their families, as well as incorporating
different cultures. By using the books from the list as resources in my
classroom I will create an inclusive environment that provides a high
set of standards for students
