Goals
1. Learninghowtocritiquereadings
:Withthis,IhadahardtimebecauseIneverreally
learnedhowtocritiquethingsandeventuallythroughoutthesemester,Ibeganto
understand.
2. Tonotrespondsomuchwhenwritingessays
:Irealizedwhenwritingamajorityofmy
papers,Iwaswritingmoreofmyownresponsetothethingswereadthancritiquingwhat
wasbeingoverlooked,misrepresented,misunderstoodetc.Iactuallyhadahardtime
seeingwhatwasoverlooked,misrepresented,misunderstoodetc,buteventuallyhada
betterunderstandingofit.
3. WritingPapersdifferentlywithaformulathatwasmoredifficult:
Inhighschool,
myenglishteachertaughtushowtowriteformalpapersandgaveusaformulathatmade
thingseasyandsimple.Collegewritinghastaughtmealot,thingsIneverreallylearned
andthewritingformulaseemedmoreconfusing.
4. Readingmysentencesoutloud:
Collegewritinghasremindedmetoreadmy
sentencesandsomethingIdidnotrealize,ItendtohaverunonsentencesandIhave
gottenabitbetterwiththatwhenwritingmypapers.
5. Understandinghowtowriteacertainway:
Thewaymyhighschoolteachertaught
me,isdefinitelynotthesamewaywearetaughtincollege.HoweverIamthankfulthatI
havelearnedtowritepapersdifferentlybecauseitchallengesmeandhelpsmylearning
grow.
6. CriticalReadingJournals:
Thiswasthemostchallengingformebecausewehadto
lookatourreadingsalotanditwasprettytimeconsumingandtherewasalotof
differentperspectiveswehadtolookat.Suchapreread,authororiented,rhetorical,
ecological,postread,etc.
