OBJECTIVE

The stoichiometric ratio is about 34:1. At

this rate the hydrogen will displace 29%,
while the air is 71%.

To find out the best replacement for the

fossil fuel if not at least can be offset the
total fuel demand

AIR FUEL RATIO

INTRODUCTION
The hydrogen fuel is better:

Its clean burning system

Low cost technology to produce hydrogen
It can be used in spark initiation, as well as
compression engines

COMPARISON OF PROPERTIES OF HYDROGEN

WITH GASOLINE

Hydrogen has a wide flammability range in

comparison with all other fuels.
Fuel economy is greater and the
combustion reaction is more complete
when a vehicle runs on a lean mixture.
Hydrogen has very low ignition energy.
Hydrogen has a relative high auto ignition
temperature.
High peak flame temperature due to
higher enthalpy of combustion, 286 KJ/Mol
energy

Figure 4 shows the variation of the brake

thermal efficiency with the air fuel ratio for
various speeds. It can be observed that the
brake thermal efficiency is increases
nearby the richest condition (AFR 35)
and then decreases with increases of AFR
and speed. The operation within a range of
AFR from 38.144 to 42.91250 ( = 0.9 to
0.8) gives the maximum values for all
speeds. It is clear that the hydrogen
stochiometric air fuel ratio is within the
band. Hence it is capable of producing
higher power output invariably for all the
speeds and loads.

It is the evidence of the study that using hydrogen

enriched air as internal combustion engine is more
advantageous. It provide significant on SI engine

and CI engine on engine brake efficiency and brake

power. NOx emission ids lowered it makes the

engine move more leaner resulting the emmison of

CO2,CO, and HC emits lower than other fuel.
