Preamble: Whearas meat inspection results are to be free for the public to view.
Whearas meat inspection results are to be labeled properly and accordingly to their
meat inspection.
SECTION 1: Terminology
Meat products means products created for human consumption from animal
carcasses
Carcass means every parts of slaughtered animals that are able to be used in
human foods
labeling means all labels and any other display of written, printed or graphic
matter
Official mark means the official inspection legend or any other symbol
prescribed by rules of director to identify status of animals and meat products
Retail dealers or retail butcher means any location of business where products
are sold to consumers only.
SECTION 2: Who affects
Producers, distributers and consumers of meat products are all to be able to have
access to information about meat inspection. Retail dealers are to have the
responsibility to label meat products depending on food quality. Failure to label
meat products are subject to penalty as outlined in SECTION 4 of this bill.
SECTION 3: Funding
Funding of this bill is to be issued from a requested Federal Grant of Inspection for
Meat and Poultry Inspection Program Reviews. Funding is to be allocated to the
FSIS Manual for Ohio Meat & Poultry Establishments and the Ohio Label Program.
Funding to the FSIS Manual for Ohio Meat & Poultry Inspection Program Reviews
is to redefine the State manual in order to fit this bill. Funding to the Ohio Label
Program is to define the official mark and ensure labeling is enforced in all retail
dealers in Ohio.

SECTION 4: Penalty
Failure to label meat products on meat inspection is to be fined $200.
