Objective:
SWBAT Compare the structure of prokaryotes/eukaryotes, plant
cells/animal cells.
Do Now Activity:
How are the walls of our school like the membrane of a cell?
If we were comparing a cell to our school, what person or room could
represent the nucleus?
Hook:
Pictures of the insides of different kinds of m&ms. Ask students to
describe the similarities and differences. Explain how these relate to
the similarities and differences that exist between different cell types.
Lesson Agenda:
Finish cell diagrams (pasting organelles).
Make Venn diagrams comparing prokaryotes/eukaryotes, plant
cells/animal cells.
Keystone Constructed response Identify a specific structure in a
single-celled organism. State how the structure is involved in survival
of the organism. Two points possible, one for stating the structure and
one for explaining how it aids survival.
Closing:
What cell types have a cell wall? What types have a cell membrane?
What surround the cell wall in a prokaryote?
