Abstract - Climate changed, global warming, and energy crisis are critical issues to be solved
urgently in a global framework. One of the effect of global warming is we feel hot temperature
either indoor or outdoor. The building should give a comfortable condition for people who in
there. The air conditioning is a way to provide thermal comfort. Indonesia as a tropical country
has a temperature about 28C-35C with relative humidity 70%-90%. While, a comfortable
buildings have temperature at 22C-25C with relative humidity 40%-60% (ASHRAE,
ASHARE standard 62-1889.ASHRAE, Washington DC (1989)). In this paper, the writers
explain about an air conditioning by using heat pipe with water as fluid. Heat pipe is a closed
tube in which there is the working fluid when in operation. Transmission mechanism of heat pipe
heat conducted through three districts namely conduction, evaporator, adiabatic area and
condenser and wick structure where the liquid is. The heat pipe with a working fluid and wick
water simple effective conductivity higher value several hundred times of copper rod with the
same dimensions. This kind of heat exchanger can solve the air conditioning in tropical country
problem and it does not waste the energy. In the other hand, it is cheap and easy to be created.
