Shoji Meguro

By Calvin Dam

Style Period
I think Shoji Meguros works are an examples
of music from the Classical period.
Reason why is he takes most songs and remixs
them to portray different emotion. Most of his
works are homophonic, and they have a clear
beat. (You can hum to it)

Early Life
Born in Tokyo, Japan he became familiar
with technology due to his parents.
Meguro enjoyed playing music, but however
he majored in hydrodynamics at Nihon
University.

Atlus
After sending a demo tape and attending 2
interviews. Meguro would be hired by the
video game company: Atlus
From then on he would compose
soundtracks for many of Atluss works. (42)

Early Works
His first couple works were games such as Revelations:
Persona, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, and Maken
X.
His first major start was when he became a leading
composer on the game, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.
This allowed him creative freedom that let him establish
his own music.

International Fame
Shoji Meguro was promoted to international
fame when he worked on the game
Persona 3. The soundtrack alone with its
pop-based vocal style has sold about
100,000 copies. From then on he worked on
Persona 4, and the remakes of Persona
1 and Persona 2.
