THE ROOTS GARDEN

Students have had the opportunity to visit the garden as well as work in the garden. Students
discovered snails, worms, and seedlings, as well as lifted and planted trees. The garden space is
for everyone to enjoy, relax and learn in. It is very important that our school community respect
and protect the garden. Please review the garden rules:
Students are only allowed in the garden with a teacher, staff member or PLASP teacher. (If
a ball, etc. goes into the garden, students must ask a staff members permission to get it.)
Students are not allowed in the garden area before school, after school and during
nutrition breaks.
What you bring into the garden you take back with you.
No picking of the flowers, bark and plants.
The pea gravel stays on the ground.
Please stay on the paths.

SCIENTISTS IN SCHOOLS
Students eagerly took part in a workshop on structures and mechanisms. Students discovered
how simple machines make work easier, constructed their own car while exploring wheels and
axles, experimented with levers, investigated wedges and screws, and used a pulley. A big thank
you to our parent volunteers who ran hands-on stations!

PEEL CHILDRENS WATER FESTIVAL

The grade 2 team is planning an educational trip to the Heart Lake Conservation Area where
students will learn about water and its role in our natural environment. Students will participate
in a host of exciting activities and events. The trip is tentatively booked for the end of May.
