Not everyone benefited from Jacksonian Democracy. Yes he did increase
the suffrage but it just gave more voting rights to the common white man.
US History.com called it the white mans democracy. One thing he did that
was not great was removing the Cherokee Indians even when they took the
case to court. They ended up winning in court and Jackson decided to go on
and remove them anyway. The Cherokee were not doing anything wrong; in
fact they were actually participating in American government. Second there
were many other times where Jackson and his followers were against cases
that were constitutional. South Carolina made a reduced tariff void and
Jackson unconstitutionally threatened to send a militia to enforce it. This was
an unconstitutional act. Another was that he had small wars with Native
American tribes. He drove the Seminole out of Florida, the Sac and Fox out of
Illinois, and the Cherokee out of Georgia. President Jackson was a great war
general and opened voting rights to more common people. Jackson did do
many things that were unconstitutional and overall not good to do. Therefor
Jacksonian Democracy did not benefit everyone.
