Lesson: Sound Energy Grade: 4" Grade ‘Teacher Candidate: Elsie Drynan Date: 2/19/15 Time Allotted: 50 minutes Actual Time: 1 Student Objectives: a. can make observations about sound waves b. Materials/Resources: a. Foss Kit for Sound Energy and the The Lang Gong worksheet from the Foss Kit teacher handbook. (One copy for each student) b. Acopy of the Energy and Motion textbook, one for each student. (pages F22-F25) . Acopy of the Label the Ear Anatomy Diagram. (One for each student) d. Worksheets that come from the Energy and Motion textbook, one for each student. (F30,F43) Compare and Controst Light and Sound Waves Venn Diagram worksheet, one for each student. Technology Used: Smart board used to post student objectives and to label the ear anatomy as acass. Teaching Method: 1. Weare starting with an investigation so that students can actually feel and hear the vibrations of sound waves. They will follow the directions of the Foss worksheet and work with a partner or groups of three. Foss kits already have the materials ready for you to use and the students can jump right in. Encourage the students to try different sounds, and show them how to use the equipment. For the most part the teacher should not be instructing, but rather letting the students investigate sound waves and Vibrations on their own and recording their findings. I, Next we are going to finish note taking out of the textbook. The students started this yesterday and are going to finish up the chapter. As the teacher lam going to make sure that we are getting all the vocabulary words necessary to understand the phenomena of sound. We take notes as a class. I show proper note taking on an easel so students can learn to take notes that will be helpful when reviewing for a test. I, When done | will hand out a packet with all the worksheets necessary for the students to understand the information covered. We are going to do the anatomy of the ear as a
