Journal 3 (Kupuna speech reflection)
I think creating a speech about someone was good because it
made me think more of the person and I got to know maybe a
little more about them and how they like to help people or what
they have been through before. I learned everything about my
kupuna throughout the years of school because she is my
councilor and getting to know ourselves it to know others first so
you can fit into the group you want to. To be honest, the whole
point of the speech was Nana I ke kumu, (look toward the
source. I didnt know but maybe I used it and I didnt know
anything but I applied it into the speech by going to the source or
the person I had to interview and asking them questions. If I
didnt ask them questions then I wouldnt have a speech to talk
about. I think I would recommend this seech for future classes
because its a good way to spend more time with your kupuna
and make them feel good about themselves because kupuna love
there moopuna when they come around and ask questions about
them, but I was to young to understand at that time when my
papa was alive but hes not anymore. He had diabetes but he was
a good person. If I had to change something in this speech,

maybe I might do someone who is more related to me like my

dad or something or my aunt who lives on this island. But over all
this speech was good learning about other peoples kupuna and
who they look up to
