Dear Senior Portfolio Committee Members,
I am writing this letter in the hopes of it furthering the level of my senior portfolio,
allowing me to graduate and proceed to advance onwards to higher education, and get
an internship and eventually, a job at an architectural design firm.
I have spent uncountable hours striving to increase my skills in areas that pertain to this
particular profession, and have become proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe
Illustrator, CAD programs, 3D Modeling programs, and Final Cut Pro, a film editing
software suite. I have won numerous awards for my work, as well as using some
examples of my designs in community service or advertising campaigns. I hope to
further expand upon these abilities. Also, I am an active member of a local 4H chapter,
currently serving as the President, as well as a council member at the county and
sectional level. This program has allowed me to greatly increase my own leadership and
responsibility, as well as giving me numerous chances to give back to the community
and to help others. For example, I am currently giving small science lessons to a class of
first graders at Cooper Elementary School, and have done topics ranging from
astronomy to reptiles.
After high school, I intend to attend college, such as UC Santa Clara, and get a major in
a field such as architectural layout/design, and then have a secondary degree in a more
sound occupation. This would allow me to gain the skills needed for architecture and
exterior design, but to also have a fallback plan in the event that an artistic career proves
unfruitful. I plan to intern at a design firm, to get the practical experience of the job and
to hone my skills and techniques. After my schooling and practical experience have
been completed, I am aiming to open my own design studio to work in, though I am not
against joining an existing studio.
Using the outlines above, I hope to have a fruitful and creative career not only in college
but in the years thereafter. The furthering of my skills and the improvement of my traits
will enable me to become competitive in the job market, and to have the best possible
career and life.
