In an effort to prevent waste, fraud and abuse in the
Capitol, the District of Columbia has posted its purchase
card transactions on its Website.
"To ensure that District taxpayers know how, where and
when their money is being spent, the Office of
Contracting and Procurement will post all purchase
orders and purchase card transactions on its website.”
We thought it would be interesting to see what findings
our IDEA users could discover.
1. Download the Excel file of the transaction data
{we narrowed the file to less than 10,000 records)
2. Analyze the file using IDEA
3. Send an email to lindseyf@audimation.com
detailing the 3 most significant findings and how
they were discovered
Some questions to consider:
* Which agency spent the most during the period?
+ Which agencies might be violating the limitation
on using p-cards for more than 5,000?
+ What possible duplicate payments are there?
Our committee will review all submissions, and wil
announce the winners in the next Update. First place
will receive a $200 American Express Gift Card. Second
place will receive a $75 American Express Gift Card,
and Third place will receive a $50 American Express Gift
Card. Happy Data Mining!
