World Challenge is a unique organisation responsible for delivering a range of development programs to young people from all over the world. The expedition is preceded by 15-20 months of preparation and planning by all team members. The process involves fund raising, training in outdoor living as well as researching and planning an itinerary culminating in a two to four week expedition. The expedition undertaken by Samantha involved a number of phases including a demanding physical trek, a community service project and some general travel and cultural exchange. The unique thing about World Challenge is that the young people involved actually run all parts of the expedition while in country. This includes leadership, managing a large and complex expedition budget, organising transport and accommodation, catering and general risk management. As a result World Challenge produces young people with a greater self- confidence, the ability to work under pressure, a sense of self and team, excellent communication skills and a highly developed sense of the world around them.
