Working Title: Water Can Be Torture

Working Thesis: The use of waterboarding during CIA interrogations
should not be allowed, because it is a violation of natural human rights.

Sonderegger, Linus. "Torture and the Fight Against Terrorism." Crime, Law
and Social Change, 62.3 (2014): 337-353.
Though recent events have given good reason to use torture techniques for
interrogation purposes, this absolute prohibition should not be sanctioned by
any means.
I will agree with this article, because it makes human rights an absolute over
all events, terroristic or not.
I will use quotes.

Vest, Jason. "CIA Veterans Condemn Torture." National Journal, 37.47-48

(2005): 3651.
The torturing done in Southeast Asia had no real effect, but obtaining false
information.
I will agree, because I believe when a person is being painfully tortured, that
person will say whatever you want them to say just to stop the pain.
I will use quotes.

Skoll, Geoffrey. "Torture and the Fifth Amendment: Torture, the Global War on
Terror, and Constitutional Values."Criminal Justice Review, 33.1 (2008): 2947.
The article uncovers certain values in the Fifth Amendment that do not
necessarily give the government (executive branch) the right to commit
extreme measures in time of war.
I will agree, because I believe the United States does not have the right to
conduct these interrogations legally.
I will use quotes and data.

Murdock, Deroy. "Water-Boarding Saves American Lives. (Cover

story)." Human Events 12 Nov. 2007: 1+. Academic Search Premier. Web. 26

Waterboarding is a necessary tool in order to get crucial information on
terrorist goups.
I will agree on this as a counter argument for water boarding.
