Flexi WCDMA BTS Quick Guide Introduction: This guide can be used as quick reference for Nokia Flexi WCDMA BTS installation Nokia Flexi WCDMA BTS is a 3G macro BTS site solution It consists of one system module (FSM) with a transmission module and up to three RF modules. It can be installed stacked on the floor, or mounted on the wall or on the pole. Ll Caution When handling the modules, always use the antistatic wrist strap as shown in the Connecting the antistatic wrist strap figure below. Overbending optical cables damages the cables and can detach or damage the connectors. Fix one half of lower bracket on plinth, Lift the plinth on pole. Nn Ro Tighten the mounting screws. . Fix the second half of lower bracket on pole. a 2 Tighten the adapter mechanics screws. Ifa second plinth is required, install it on the other side of the pole mounting bracket 1, Place the first module on plinth, 2. Push back until It locks. 3. Fix with screws. 4. Place the second module. 5. Push back until It locks, 6. Fix with screws. Repeat the steps above to install the remaining modules to a separate plinth 9) Transmission module 1, Detach cable entries from system module. 2. Loosen the screws, 3. Pull out the module core. 4. Check that the connector is straight. 5. Place the transmission sub-module. 6. Fix with screws. Route the cable through strain relief 4. Insert power cable to connector 5. Tighten the connection 6. Cover the connector with the plate 7.Route the cable to the front panel 8. Re-insert module core to the casing 9. Fix with screws 10. Install cable entries system Modus ‘cable entry 1. Ground the plinth to the site main ground 2. Connect the grounding cable to the module front panel. 3. Route the grounding cable through cable entry. Radio Module ‘cable entry 4. Connect the other end of the cable to the plinth. 5. Repeat with all the modules. Check list ( Power cable is connected. ( Module core is inside the casing, and cable lead-throughs are installed. oO Antenna cable 1, Remove seals from the antenna connectors in RF module. 2. Push the cable connector seal on cable connectors. 3. Pull back the connector seal to uncover the connector. 4. Connect the cable to the RF module. 5. Push the connector seal firmly in place, 6. Route the antenna jumper cables through the cable entry. 7. Repeat for all the antenna cables in the configuration. 8. Make sure that all the connector seals are properly installed. Remove internal cable entry cover. Remove connector seals from power cable connectors in modules. Pull back the connector seal to uncover the connector. 4. Connect the cable to the system module. 5. Push the connector seal firmly in place, 6. Coil up the excess cable and push it in the RF module cable slot. 7. Connect the intemal power cable to the RF module. 8. Route the cable through cable entry between system and RF modules. 9. Repeat for all RF modules in the configuration 10. Make sure that all the connector seals are properly installed 13) Cabling (continued) Optical cable TI Check list 1. Remove connector seals from optical cable connectors in modules. 2. Push the transmitter/receiver in the system module. 3. Clean the optical connectors. 4. Pull back the connector seal to uncover the connector. 5. Connect the cable to the system module. 6. Push the connector seal firmly in place. 7. Coil up the excess cable and push it in the RF module cable slot. 8. Connect the optical cable to the RF module. 9. Route the cable through cable entry between system and RF modules 10. Repeat for all RF modules in the configuration. 11, Make sure that all the connector seals are properly installed 1. Remove connector seals from the transmission sub-module connectors. 2. Route the transmission cables through cable entry. 3. Pull back the connector seal to uncover the connector. 4. Connect the cable to the transmission sub-module. 5. Push the cable connector seal firmly in place. 6. Repeat for all the transmission cables in the configuration. 7. Make sure that all the connector seals are properly installed (All cables are connected according to the configuration. Cables between the modules on the same plinth are routed via internal cable entries. (BTS external cables or cables between the modules on different plinths are routed via external cable entries. Minimum clearances are met. Plinth is installed according to instructions. Antistatic wrist strap is connected and used when handling the modules. Adapter mechanics are installed (for wall and pole installation) Modules are installed according to instructions. Module back covers are installed. Transmission sub-module is installed according to instructions. Power feeder cable is connected. Cable entries are installed. Base station is grounded. Antenna cables are connected according to the configuration. Internal power cables are connected. Optical fibre cables are connected. Transmission cables are connected. Cables between the modules on the same plinth are routed via internal cable entries. BTS extenal cables or cables between the modules on different plinths are routed via external cable entries. Connector seals are firmly in place. Module front panel covers are installed (optional).
