During my high school career I imagined myself going to a University of

California, and during that time thats what I worked towards. I involved myself in extra
curricular activities, I volunteered and I worked extremely hard to earn good grades. I
knew that I had to discipline myself in order to reach my goals. As always one doesnt
know what exactly the future holds. Instead of attending a University of California, I will
be attending Brigham Young University-Idaho for the next four years of my life. Its very
rewarding to see all my hard work pay off and I could not be more excited for the future.
My plan for the first year of college is to take the required courses and adjust to my new
surroundings and most of all get involved in clubs. Something that I wish I would have
been able to do earlier during my high school career. Which is why it is now at the top of
my priority list, because along with clubs there are new people to meet. I know that
during this first year I will be very nervous and a little scared, since I have lived in
California my whole life and I have never dealt with snow. The thought of being 15 hours
away is relieving yet frightening. I plan to major in Public Health and minor in Political
Science. Those are two of my main passions, the well being of our population and
modern politics. I would also like to study abroad during my junior year in college, being
able to experience a different culture and perhaps even learn a different language would
be ideal. After I graduate college I would like to apply for a dual degree program working
to receive a masters in Public Health and a Medical Degree. My ultimate goal is to

become a surgeon. I know the road ahead is long and challenging but with discipline
and determination I can accomplish such goals.
