A general remark: the students are expected to know and be familiar with all the material

covered in class by the instructor. You wont be tested on something not covered in lecture! In
particular, the following outline might help you when preparing for the Exam 2:

2. 3-Rule and the Chebyshevs inequality.
3. The joint pdf fXY (x, y) for a random vector (X, Y ) and know how to check if f is indeed
a pdf: both descrete and continuous case.
4. Marginal pdfs fX (x) and fY (y) associated with a given joint pdf fXY (x, y) and know how

it.

Cov(X, Y ), and XY .
9. Conditional densities fX|Y , fY |X and how to find them. Curves of regression.
