To contribute to my education experience, while working as a Daily Living Assistant at Parkland at the Gardens on the enriched care floor along with five year experience working as an Instructor with adults who have intellectual disabilities and providing respite care for 7 years, I have developed the skills to perform tasks in a person center approach and in a safe competent manner. Some of the tasks I demonstrate on a daily basis while working are personal care, life skills development, social skills development, supporting recreation and leisure goals, redirecting and using behavioral strategies with residents and clients who experience challenging behaviours. I also have experience with different levels of mobilization with different assistive devices and lifts. I have consistently demonstrated my ability to work independently and also as a contributing member of a health care team. I work well under pressure. I am very empathetic and know that patience and flexibility are essential in this field. With my education and employment experience I have been able to develop the skills needed to work with individuals to meet their personal goals using recreation and leisure activities.
