Classroom management plan

Philosophic Statement
My philosophy of education is that every student can learn as long as
they have all materials to do so. I firmly believe that this is the only way that
a student can really learn and be able to reach his or her full potential. I
know we are able to obtain this because of my teaching style. I am walking
around and making sure that my students are on task and they are
understanding what they are supposed to be doing for the assignment that
has been presented. I will have a unique classroom experience for each
class, because lets be honest not class is not the same. I will have two
major classroom goals that will be the same for each class, and those two
are: 1) Everybody works until the bell rings and 2) No class disruptions while
I am teaching a lesson They need to be working and writing what I am
lecturing on the days lesson, or working on a group project that I have
assigned or they are just working on homework. I also have the philosophy of
not lecturing the entire time because I feel like that would cause me to lose
some of the students.

Physical Room
I will have my teacher desk in the corner because I feel like then I will
not be in the way of the students. I have the fish tank because it could

change the overall mood of the classroom. I would also consider using lamps
in my classroom because I feel like this would help the students. The
florescent lights could cause students to have headaches and not be able to
have the best learning experience I would use the Round tables and have
about five students at each table in order for them to work in groups as well
as not to clutter up the room, and it makes more of a wide-open area to be
able to do activities in class. I could choose where the whiteboards are on
the far side wall of the room and then in the front of the classroom, I would
have a smart board. I would able to explain things like military tactics if we
were talking about something that I needed to explain something by drawing
how military got to their acquired target. The reason why I have a
wraparound desk is because I feel like Ill be able to put the computer in the
corner of the desk with all my organizational stuff on the far edge. I also do
this because it doesnt look like I am hiding behind a computer, and the
students will know that I am available to answer any questions about the
assignment or project that they are working on. The students will also be
able to turn in assignments at my desk.

Classroom Procedures
I would have a very unique set of procedures such as when walking in
to the class I will play some kind of music and what outside of music that is
when the class from the start and keep playing music until the bell rings.
That is when the students know that it's time class to start and it is time to
get ready for the day's lesson. I will be doing this for every single class

period because I feel like this is a good way to ease the class into the lesson.
Now when it comes to late work what Im going to do is that for every day
that the assignment is not turned in, I will be taking off 10% of the final
grade for up to five days at that point I will no longer be accepting the
assignment unless you have a legitimate reason why they were unable to
turn in the assignment on any of those days. For students who were absent
on the day the assignment was given they will gain an extra day. Legitimate
excuses include: home sick, doctors appointment, death in the family or any
other kind of family emergency. For example, if a student misses three days
because of a death in the family, then that student will have an extra three
days in order to complete the assignment for full credit. If the students know
they are going miss class they should speak with me and get the
assignments and those assignments will be due the day that the student
gets back from wherever they have been. Another procedure I will have is
when the students walk in the class I will have a shoe holder will be in
attached to a chalk board and in each of us they will be a possible stick
number one to however many students we have in the class and what the
students do is they take the popsicle stick out their assigned pocket and with
that phone inside the pocket. This will help with who want it all help in
students just playing on their phones during the entire class. This also allows
me to take attendance faster because I can just look over at what numbers
do not have phones in them and I can match the number of the number of
the student on my roster and be able to mark that student absent for the

day assuming that all students have a cell phone. Now if we have a class
where we use technology then they can get their phone. At the end of the
class the students will have to do is put the stick back and then be able to
take their phone with them. This will be there ticket to leave the class while
also making it easier on me as a teacher for taking attendance in the next
class that I teach. Now students request to go use the restroom, they will
not be allowed to take their phone with them because that will just cause the
student to be out of class a lot longer than they need to be.

Classroom Rules

The teacher is the only person who should be talking unless otherwise

called on.
Phone are to be placed in designated phone areas.
Students are to be in seats when the bell rings unless given other

instructions.
Student will be in charge of turning in their homework to the desired

areas at the beginning of class.

The Students should always be respectful of all other students, teacher
and guesses in the classroom at all times.
I am not huge into the whole having a bunch of classroom rules
because I dont feel that it is really necessary for there to be a rule for
everything. Respect all people in the classroom is the most important
to me because I feel like that is the golden rule of all classroom rules.
Because there could be a guest in the classroom and this could have
been one of the students potential employers down the road and if

that person knows that the students work hard that will look good
when they student applies for a job. Employers will remember how
they were treated that will really help the student when attempting to
get that job. I will introduce the rules on the first day of class or the
first day of the semester I will go over the rules with the students had
them sign a piece of paper saying that they will follow all these rules
that I will give students a piece of paper that they have to take home
and have either their parents or guardian sign it saying that they
receive this and for the parents and students to know what the
consequences are if one of these rules are broken.

Discipline Plan
For my discipline plan I am going to use SODAS from the book The Well
Managed Classroom. According to The Well Managed Classroom Sodas
means S- Define the Situation, O-Examine Options available to deal with
the problem, D-Determine the Disadvantages of each option, A- Determine
the Advantages of each option, S- Decide on a Solution and practice (Well
29). I am going to use this system because I feel like the most civilized way
for me to deal with a situation. Since enrolling in high school I feel like they
can be logical in solving the problems that are going to arise in a typical high
school setting. I know to stay positive and not allow my emotions to affect
the way I am disciplining a student. One thing I have been told that Im
going to deal with is students who do not want to learn. How I am going to

deal with this is I am going to use one of the ideas that I learned while
reading Why did I not learned this in college. I am going to Give Choices. Is
it A or B? (Rutherford 38). I feel this is the only way that Im going to be
able to get the students to participate in class. I am going to stay positive
and give them words of encouragement and hope that that will help them
get through tough times they could be dealing with. If I have a student
behaving negatively in my class I will stay positive and find a way to have
the student think positively and find a way to calm him or her down. I also
had come specific techniques that I will use that I learned from Why did I not
learned this in college and they are Avoid student labeling or using
authoritarian tones and language (Rutherford 10). I will use this one
because if I use a strong tone, then I could have students think that I dont
like them and that will cause them not to do any work. The second strategy
that I am going to use is teach students to code text (Rutherford 39). This
will work because students own form of free hand when they are taking
notes because then we wont have to stop all of the for students who are
slower writers; because then we would be able to get more out of each day
and that is always a good thing.
