Double Play Analysis

Opposites are not totalopposites. In the poem "Double Play" written by Robert
Wallace, the author uses many types of figurative languages.u<:h as "The pitcher winding

example, "under the artificial

banks of arc lights, bounds like a vanishing string over the green." This example is a simile
because the author is comparing a vanishing string to how fast the balf. looks under the
field lights by using like or as. Another example would be "dust redirects its flight to the
running poised second baseman." This example is personification because the author is
saying that the dust is given a human like characteristic. In the poem "Double Play" written
by Robert Wallace,he compares opposites to complete opposites using many types of
figurative language.

GENERAL COMMENTS

PAGE1
Fragment Fragment:<br>A sentence fragment is a phrase or clause that is in some way incomplete.Such fragments
become problematic when they attempt to stand alone as a complete sentence. The most common version of this
mistake occurs when a writer mistakes a gerund (a verb that acts like a noun) for a main verb, as in the following
sentence: "In bed reading Shakespeare from dusk to dawn."
AddJiional Comment: You need to provide greater context in your integration of your quotes so we have some sense of
the reason for the text.
1. Yes it does, but why is that relevant to your theme?
2. You're explaining why each of your quotes are actually examples of figurative language.l'm more interested in the
f-fOW.How are these examples helping to communicate the centralidea of opposites NOT being complete opposites.
