Facing History Reflection

Fidaa Janoudi
1. Describe the Facing History activity.
This Facing History activity is called Mix It up Day, where one long advisory block is
dedicated to mixing grades, students, and teachers to interact and bond together. It usually
happens at the beginning of the year, where students and teachers still have an awkward feel with
each other.
2. What did you notice during this activity?
After being a part of this activity for three years, I felt like this year was one of the most
unsuccessful. No, it was not the people who hosted this event, it was more because of me. I felt
like over the years I have been having the need to isolate myself, so I refused to participate. I
didn't have the Mix It Up feel.
3. How did the activity feel?
I honestly didn't like it. Personally, I felt bored and it felt like a waste of time. Again, this
is because of what I had mentioned earlier.
4. What did you learn?
I did learn a few here and there. While we were doing a Take Your Stand activity, many
people had bright and inspiring ideas about the side that they chose. Most importantly, I learned
how good my group was at debating.
5. What did you contribute?
I didn't contribute much this year. I really hate participating and year after year, this
activity feels more and more awkward.
6. What are you left wondering about?
To be honest, I wonder how it would look next year.
