AGREEMENT REACHED REGARDING WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT


Monthly discussions on endangered species and carnivores
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON (April 13 2015) A new compromise is being reached between
wildlife managers and ranchers in the state of Washington.
After a weekend of meetings between wildlife managers and the Washington Cattlemens
Association in Seattle, Washington, new agreements are being reached regarding
communications between the groups.
Preliminary meetings between the leaders of the rancher associations and regional
directors of the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife to discuss growing concerns
over management of predators and endangered species. The Cattlemens Association and wildlife
managers reached new agreements to better communicate the new regulations set forth by the
Dept. of Fish and Wildlife to the ranching associations such as wolf hunting regulations, as well
as addressing concerns that they have regarding the new regulations.
To further discuss the ongoing changes in policies for wolf management like hunting
seasons and kill rates, monthly meetings will be held between the two groups to discuss the

applications, value, and effects. They have also agreed on yearly meetings in Seattle, Washington
or Spokane, Washington. There will be a mediator present at all meetings.

The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is a state agency dedicated to the
management, protection, and restoration of the wildlife that depends on our states resources to
survive. They coordinate with the US Department of Fish and Wildlife frequently to mediate the
migratory species management with Canada as well.
