The survey I made consists of ten true or false questions on the topic of child abuse. I
wanted to see how much people actually know about child abuse, and which facts were missed
the most. After they take the survey I get the results back for how many people took the survey.
These are my ten true or false questions:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WMT7CCB
1. In 2012 1,593 children died in the U.S. because of abuse.
2. Of the 2012 child abuse cases, 45.3% of the perpetrators were male and 53.5% were
female.
3. over 45% of abused children are under the age of five.
4. Of the children who die from child abuse, 70.3% were younger than three years of age
5. Boys and girls have the same chance of being victims of abuse
6. Approximately 5 children die every day because of child abuse.
7. 2.9 million cases of child abuse are reported every year in the United States.
8. About 80% of 21 year-olds who were abused as children met criteria for at least one
psychological disorder.
9. In the United States, more than 4 children die from child abuse and neglect on a daily
basis.
10. A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds
The most commonly missed question was Boys and girls have the same chance of
being victims of abuse the correct answer was true, but more than 50% answered false. It is
often times assumed by people that girls are more likely to be abused, but in reality boys and
girls have the same chance. The second most missed question was number two, people think
that mostly men are perpetrators of abuse but from a study that was conducted in 2012 it
showed that there were more female perpetrators than males.
